Your 2 Day Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will start with pick up by your driver from Sahara Camel Trips company at your hotel/riad in Marrakech early in the morning and depart to the High Atlas mountains, going through Tizi N´Tichka port with stops for panoramic views and taking pictures of the Berber villages and its beautiful landscape.
Then we continue to Ait ben Haddou (fortified village) declared a world heritage site by Unesco since 1986, many famous films were recorded in this spectacular place such as Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Jewel of the Nile, The Mummy …
Our trip continues to Ouarzazate also known as “The gate of the desert” which in the Berber language means “noiseless “. Here we´ll see the Taourirt kasbah one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. The next site to see is Rose Valley going through the big Skoura palm grove a beautiful place to contemplate countless palms and numerous kasbahs that are built in the surrounding area we’ll stop for lunch. We’ll pass by Dades & Todra valleys, Tinejdad, Touroug.
And then we continue our way to the desert to reach the stunning dunes of Merzouga where we´ll experience the Camel trekking through the golden Erg Chebbi desert with a break to watch the incredible sunset over the dunes, try Sandboarding in the sand if you are interested, enjoy the beautiful landscapes… until the sun goes down.
Then continue to Berber Camp Merzouga where you will be greeted with a glass of mint tea and relax till dinner time, after that there will be some traditional Berber drumming music around the fire, admire a beautiful starry sky, and then sleep at nomadic tented camp.
Day 2 : Erg Chebbi - Erfoud - Ziz Valley - Midelt - Ifran – Fez { 465 km } 8 hours
Get woken up by your desert hosts if you wish to watch the sunrise. After breakfast, drive along the Ziz River with its amazing oasis lined with palm trees and fortified ksours (castles) all the way to Midelt, a small town in the middle of the Atlas Mountains, your lunch stop for the day. In the afternoon, continue crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains towards Fes via Erfoud a famous city for its unique fossils. Notice a dramatic change in the landscape: snow-capped mountains, cedar forests, and rich vegetation, a complete 180 from the arid and rocky landscapes of the rest of the tour. End your Marrakech to Fes desert tour in the early evening as your driver takes you to your riad or hotel in Fes.
